Board of Directors
Joe Stanley, Founder & President
A native of Syracuse, Joe has called Central New York home his whole life. Joe graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in 1981 and founded Stanley Law, where he devotes most of his time to advocating for those who have experienced serious personal injury.
After witnessing family members experience homelessness and food insecurity, as well as volunteering for the Rescue Mission, Joe founded Music for the Mission in 2009. Through Music for the Mission Joe hopes to provide relief to the homeless and the hungry in the local community, because, as he somberly puts it, “at any moment, you or your neighbor could be experiencing the same hardships. We cannot turn a blind eye to this suffering.”
Angela Moonan, Board Member (Director of Communications & Marketing)
Angela is a mom, business owner, corporate storyteller, marketer, advocate and ambassador for Music for the Mission and those we serve to help meet the basic needs for survival. The world has certainly changed during her twenty-five years in media and marketing. For over a decade she’s worked side by side with Joe Stanley and the Stanley Law Team as the firm has grown and prospered… into being able to create Music for the Mission to do good works throughout New York and Pennsylvania.
A musician herself, Angela’s dedicated to believing that our instrumental job in life is to ensure there’s hope, there’s inspiration, there’s a way to help one more person, and the next, and the next… strive for a more purpose-filled and beautiful life.
Joanna Jewett, Executive Director
Joanna is known as a ‘marketing goddess’ who specializes in fundraising and event planning.
After years of working in media sales, she entered the non-profit world several years ago.
She is currently (and proudly) serving as the Director of Development and Marketing for Arc of Onondaga. Known for her keen organizational skills, uber-positive attitude, and creativity, she has built a reputation as a ‘go-to’ idea person who can conceptualize and execute.
She is a former board member of the NY State Blues Festival and Harborfest. She served as co-chair of the Marketing committee of Safe Kids of Upstate New York, led by Golisano Children’s Hospital. She is currently a proud member of the Oswego Music Hall of Fame Board of Directors. Joanna is also a professional vocalist with CNY bands Funkadelphia, The Mix Tapes, and the CNY Songbirds. Joanna is thrilled to serve as Executive Director of Music for the Mission.
Christina Cole, Board Member
Christina has been a part of Music for the Mission since its inception, having worked with Stanley Law since her early days in radio beginning in the year 2000 as a Marketing Consultant at 93Q and 95X here in Syracuse. Christina has been in the media industry for 22 years and currently leads Advance Aviation, a division of Advance Media New York. She resides in Central New York with her husband Daniel and daughters Sara and BriarRose.
She is an ambassador for Music for the Mission having sat on the Board of Directors for the past year prior to taking on the role of Executive Director in August of 2017. A vocalist herself, she has orchestrated and performed in multiple events over the years and knows what it takes to create and execute a successful fundraiser.
Christina has worked side by side with Angela Moonan and Joe Stanley for most of her nearly 20 year career, and has a passion for helping put an end to homelessness and hunger here in Central New York.
Christina served as Executive Director for Music for the Mission from July 2017 through December 2020.
Stephanie Viscelli, Board Member
Stephanie Viscelli is an attorney with Stanley Law Offices. Working to help people in her professional life Stephanie has seen the difficulties many people face in their day to day life in providing for the basic needs of their families. Stephanie is the proud mom of two children, Isabella and Antonio and President of the City of the Rome Common Council. She has a strong belief in giving back to her community and teaching her children “to be part of the solution”. Having volunteered with Music for the Mission and watching the positive impact it is making right here in our local community Stephanie is thrilled to serve on the Music for the Mission Board.
Nick Shires, Board Member
Nick was born and raised in the Syracuse area. After graduating from Syracuse University, he began working at a regional accounting firm located in downtown Syracuse. His commitment to the accounting profession and the Central New York region have led him to his current role as a tax partner at Dannible & McKee, LLP.
He is bringing that same commitment to helping those in need through his involvement with Music for the Mission. Nick has always been a believer in the power of community involvement, and he is excited about the impact music can have in the betterment of lives in his hometown.
